About D'Shaun

D’Shaun A. Booker holds a M.A. in Fine Arts from California State University,Los Angeles and a B.F.A. in Theatre Education from Howard University.  Ms.Booker’s professional experience work includes:  fourteen years of teaching inclusiveof English Literature, Speech, and Theatre Arts, extensive experience in scripting,producing, and directing, special event planning and producing, workshopfacilitation and public speaking.Ms.  Booker’s theatrical training began at The Lee Strasberg Institute in LosAngeles.  She continued her training at The Inner City Cultural Center and SheilaManning’s Commercial Studio both in Los Angeles.D’Shaun has taken her training seriously and aims to train others in the Theatre Arts.She has taught drama at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, All ThatDance Academy of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, and Serra High School in Gardena.Some of D’Shaun’s Los Angeles credits as director include; the children’s production of “The Foolish King”, staged at All That Dance Academy, an original mystery comedy “Five Deep”, staged at The Richard Pryor Theater, “God’s Trombones”,“Oasis” which she adapted/wrote, both staged at West Angeles Performing Arts Center, “A Path Less Taken”, at the 24thStreet Theater, “Everything But My Soul at the Wilshire Ebel Theater, “Before It Hits Home” staged at California StateUniversity, Dominguez Hills, “Intimate Apparel” staged at The Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica.  She assistedthe director Shirley Jo Finney for “Central Avenue”, at The Fountain Theater. She has also directed original one-acts atboth Compton and Southwest Community Colleges.  She is currently writing her newest play “Meetin’ in the LadiesRoom.”Her position as Director of Youth Services for the YWCA Greater Los Angeles afforded Ms. Booker vastadministration expertise in youth development, program implementation, empowerment counseling, andpublic speaking.  She has also produced and directed conferences, summits, and luncheons for the YWCAand other non-profit organizations.  She is currently an adjunct faculty member of performance atUniversity of Southern California, California State University, Dominguez Hills, Southwest andCompton Community Colleges.  She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Oasis MinistryProductions, a spiritually influenced production company and Arts Creating Unity Institute, Inc. anon-profit performing arts organization.  Ms. Booker has received several awards and recognition.
